Our story

From the tools to the terminal

How one setback became lumin42 — the real version, not a highlight reel.

For years my working life was built on my hands — site work, tarmac, fencing, running a yard and a workshop. Then a long-term injury took that away. Manual work was off the table, and for a long time that felt like the end of a chapter with no idea what the next one was.

"I didn't choose to change direction. The direction changed, and I had to decide what to do with that."

Caring for family, and finding clarity

Around the same time, both my mum and my step-dad were diagnosed with cancer, and I became their carer. Caregiving teaches you to spot problems before they become crises, and to build routines that hold up on the worst days — the same instincts I now bring into every business I work with. It was in the quieter hours around caring for them that I started teaching myself AI — not as an escape, but as a way to build something useful out of a genuinely hard season.

Trading a toolbelt for AI consultancy

I studied AI consultancy properly — not just how the technology works, but how it actually solves real operational problems inside real businesses. Everything I'd learned running a workshop and a yard — spotting inefficiency, fixing what's broken, making sure the job gets done properly — turned out to be the same skill set that makes AI consultancy useful rather than just technically impressive.

What lumin42 is today

lumin42 is AI consultancy and automation for businesses that want to grow without burning their people out doing it — real things that are built and working today: ClawbitAI (an AI phone receptionist, tested but not yet run for a paying client — said plainly, not oversold), 200+ real templates and prompt packs from £3.99, and straight-talking consultancy. Nothing here is a 40-agent workforce or an invented case study — just what's built, and what it costs.

"An injury ended one career. It didn't end the drive behind it — it just gave it a new direction."
